AMFAR GIVES $1.9 MILLION TO AIDS RESEARCH
On February 21 the American Foundation for AIDS Research (AmFAR) announced awards of almost two million dollars to 24 AIDS research projects. Most are laboratory studies in virology or biochemistry.On January 27 AmFAR announced separate awards totalling $1.1 million to 12 community-based clinical trials centers. These emergency grants were to help the organizations survive an unexpected shortage of Federal funds.
AmFAR has given a total of $24 million to over 350 research teams and educational projects since its founding in 1985.
