Geneva Conference: Call for Alternative and Traditional Healing Practices Material
The Global AIDS Program of the National Council for International Health (NCIH), in Washington, D.C., is helping to organize a symposium on "Alternative and Traditional Healing Practices" for the 12th World AIDS Conference (Geneva, Switzerland, June 28 to July 3, 1998).The symposium program will include: Research and Traditional Medicine (What has been documented? Have the findings been distributed? How are the findings put to use?); Traditional and Herbal Medicines (examples of what is being used and requested in selected communities); Collaboration Between Traditional and Modern Medical Practitioners (How have collaborative projects been organized? What are the benefits of these collaborations?); and Life Philosophy (Spiritual practices, self-empowerment, meditation, relaxation, etc.).
